*Just in time before the start of their tour,* [*The Vaccines*](https://twitter.com/thevaccines?ref=therunningkick.eu) *surprise us with a fresh EP ‘Planet Of The Youth’.*

The six-track EP is released not even six months after their latest album 'Back In Love City', and features the previously shared track 'Thunder Fever', along with the new single 'Disaster Girl'.

In contrast to ‘Back In Love City’, which was written and recorded before the pandemic, ‘Planet Of The Youth’ was virtually written on the sofa. The sound, the themes, and the feels, however, follow on from the previous record.

The need to record new music so quickly stemmed from the fact that the band had no real chance to tour their album due to the pandemic. So the tour for ‘Back In Love City’ starts three years after they started recording it. Not being able to to play the new songs of ‘Back In Love City’ as soon as the album came out disappointed them. The bond to the album was different. Therefore the idea of new songs.

What can we say? We're happy to get some fresh, new tunes from the band. The EP is a great blend of feel-good but also melancholic tunes.

And it has a lot to offer. From the two already released tracks like ‘Disaster Girl’ that describes the emotions when you feel you're a disaster in your relationships. To the danceable, frenetic ‘Thunder Fever’. A happy tune that plays on the idea that falling in love can feel as powerful and intense as something meteorological or out of this world. ‘Hometown of Jupiter’, in comparison, transports more melancholic vibes in a wonderful manner. My personal favourite track on the record is ‘Young Meteors’.

The name ‘Planet Of The Youth’ was inspired by the feeling of being an alien on this planet. Especially, when you're young. The feeling of not feeling at home with your own self at a young age. Something we've all gone through in our teenage years, probably.
